The government did not create marriage and has no business redefining it, or imposing a strange new definition of marriage on our children and grandchildren. – Maggie Gallagher, National Organization for Marriage president
The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) released the following statement in regards to New York Governor David A. Paterson’s decision to introduce a bill legalizing same-sex marriage:
“Gov. Paterson should not be pushing a divisive culture war on the people of New York as a distraction from his inability to lead on rebuilding New York’s economy and balancing its budget. The majority of New Yorkers and the New York Supreme Court reject same-sex marriage. When will politicians listen to we the people or to their political base?” stated Brian Brown, executive director of NOM.
“Marriage matters because children deserve a fair shot at a mom and dad. The government did not create marriage and has no business redefining it, or imposing a strange new definition of marriage on our children and grandchildren,” said Maggie Gallagher, president of NOM.
